The task facing the modern digital marketer has never been greater. The desire to shine in an ever growing, ever changing sea of competitors, all looking for the same bite, is a tough task for any accomplished professional, never mind someone who is new to the industry.
A number of years ago, long before Facebook and Google, even before Ebay and Wikipedia, there was one thing all marketers could agree on. That was that the platforms which were available to them where all all straight forward. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that it was an easy task, quite the opposite in fact, but you knew where you stood with regards to advertising and promotion.
The main player was print, whether it was Newspaper, magazine or simply a flyer campaign, this was and had been the mainstay of marketers for a long, long time. You also had such things as motorway billboards, advertising boards at stadiums and shopping centres and for the more exotic companies you had TV and radio.
Fly forward to the modern day. All these mediums are still utilised and crucially important in our respective industries, however one thing changed everything. The internet changed it all and has gone from an interesting platform full of potential, to the biggest of them all, it plays apart in everyone’s life in some form or another. Oh and the best thing about it, we don’t have to pay a penny to get the most out of it.
So how do you stand out, how do you get your brand noticed, it may seem the faster you run there are always competitors around running that bit faster, getting more recognition and more importantly getting the custom/business you feel you deserve. It can be a daunting task and one which you feel you are getting lost, drowning while everyone around you keeps pushing onwards.
Why not try and infographic? I’m sure we are all aware of what they are, we see them all over our social media feeds and I cant imagine one of you not coming across them at some point. So what’s stopping you from producing your own? You don’t have to have skills on Photoshop or even be creative when it comes to imagery There are numerous sites you can use to build you infographics online with ease.
They truly are a great tool and one which you need to be using to help push your message. They are eye catching and if done correctly will really stand you out amongst the crowd. While a great message is a great message regardless, it just helps to awaken someone’s interest and I promise you it will be eye catching and will grab the attention of your customers.
Also they can be easier to understand, easier to breakdown and can really stick in the mind of people who engage with them. From personal experience they can be more persuasive than text as they evoke more of an interactive experience for the viewer. Don’t forget as well, they are very easy to share on our favourite social sites like Facebook, Twitter and Pintrest, all allowing you to simply upload a stand alone image rather than having to link away from them.
All in all if you are not using infographics to back up, support and grab the attention your message deserves then start doing so ASAP. They are under utilised by to many people, I can promise you that a good, strong infographic will only help to boost your profile and increase the readership and interactiveness of your message. So what are you waiting for, create a few simple infographics and get them out there and with the correct layout and visuals you should see great results from word go.
